An offensive battle in White Plains for the 7th grade modified team.

Posted Wednesday, October 19, 2005 by Bud von Heyn

In the second game of the 7th grade modified season Somers looked good against White Plains in a 37-19 win.

On the 2nd play from scrimmage White Plains scored a touchdown on a sweep to the outside. The Somers D came back to the sideline thinking that they were in for a tough game. After that Somers took complete control of the game. RB Kieran Donohue caught a touchdown pass from QB Brian Winters on a bootleg pass.
FB Rob Mendoza broke free for a pair of running touchdowns along with a 10-yard catch for another touchdown. FB DJ Giuntini also had a 50+ yard touchdown. These plays all worked because of key blocks from Center Michael Cleary, Guard Matt O'Connell, and Tackle Matt Cirieco. In a real team effort, Somers won 37-19, and the team had a happy bus ride home to Somers.
