Tim Fazzinga has saved his best football for the postseason.

Somers’ junior fullback rushed for 204 yards and five touchdowns in Friday’s 52-14 rout at Ossining in the Section 1 Class A semifinals, delivering the reigning champs back to the title game.

The Tuskers (8-1) will face Rye next Saturday at Mahopac High School in rematch from Week 2, which Somers lost 20-13. Rye is undefeated.

Fazzinga needed only 17 carries to pile up his career-high yardage. He’s now rushed for 340 yards and seven touchdowns in two playoff games after having just 300 and five scores in seven regular season contests.

The return to the championship is somewhat of a surprise for Somers, which graduated the majority of its starters from last season.

“A lot of people counted us out,” Fazzzinga said. “But we believed all along that we could do this.”

Ossining came in off a 62-59 win over John Jay-Cross River in the quarterfinals, which was won on a Hail Mary with 1.1 seconds left. The Pride went ahead 6-3 early in the first quarter but sputtered offensively after the rest of the way.

Somers piled up 485 yards of total offense, including 82 yards rushing by quarterback Tim Cousin. The defense force five interceptions — three by Tyler DeVito and two by Matt Arita.
